Foxbury Farm Shop's Old Spot Banger has been awarded Gold at the Three Counties Sausage and Pie Competition 2010. (Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hampshire)

Made by19 year old Butchery Apprentice Edward McInroy (pictured left), the judges awarded the sausages 98% which is quite an achievement as this was his first competition. Following Butchery Manager and mentor Loz Bremner's year of experience, Ed was able to impress the judges with the flavour, texture and appearance.

The competition would only accept sausages made with British meat and had to fulfil strict criteria to receive such an accolade. This included external and internal appearance and colour, ease of cutting, texture, structure, taste, smell and no errors in composition and processing.

The Foxbury butchery team also entered their Gloucester Old Spot Pork and Apple Sausage which achieved 90% warranting a silver award.

Farmer and owner Colin Dawes said "I am ever so proud of the butchery team and it is fantastic for Ed."
