  • Andrew MacDonald, Administrator

I’m Andrew and I have been working at MEAT since 2008 when I joined as an Apprentice in Administration. I have managed to work my way up to Administrator after years of hard work.

When not at work I like playing football and I am an Ipswich Town supporter. I also completed the Ipswich Half Marathon this year (2015) and that will be my first and last attempt at marathons: half or whole!

  • Stuart Davis, Assessor

I am a qualified assessor with butcher and hygiene qualifications.

I started at MEAT on January 2nd 2014 as a Trainee Assessor.  I joined the meat industry as a Saturday boy when I was 12.  On leaving school I became a YTS Apprentice Butcher, working mainly in retail and occasional speed boning in the meat plant owned by the same company.  I worked my way through the company to improver, butcher, assistant manager and manager of retail outlets throughout the Midlands.

It is a pleasure to be part of the development involving the rough diamonds of youth becoming the butchers of the future, especially when the kettle’s on for my arrival after my many long journeys.

I am a dedicated family man, enjoying nothing better than spending time with my wife and children.

  • Kevin Jaggard, Assessor

I joined MEAT Ipswich in January 2016 as a Trainee Assessor.

I started work in the meat industry at 16 as a Trainee Butcher at Dewhurst.  I went on to spend 17 years in retail, 8 years in catering butchery with my last job being a meat, fish and produce manager for a major supermarket chain.

I studied with MEAT Ipswich when John Croxford was alive, gaining my Associateship and Graduate Membership of the IOM in 1994 and 1995.

John went on to arrange for me four 2 week work placements in Russia and Azerbaijan training young people in butchery skills, developing a fresh meat retail counter as previously it was sold bone in, hacked off the carcase on the back of the farmer’s van!  So I have personally experienced the benefits of good training.

Outside of work I enjoy playing golf, spending time with my family and following Manchester United for my sins!

  • Eric Reeve M.Inst.M, Assessor

I was born above the family butchers shop in Newmarket.  For over 30 years I helped run the family retail butchers shop.  I attended the old “Smithfield College”.  I have been a Member of the Institute of Meat for many years, past President of the Cambridge Butcher’s Association and I am a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Butchers.  Last year I gained the highest accolade when I achieved the Institute of Meat accredited Master Butcher Award.  I am passionate about training and giving something back to the meat trade.

I love the great outdoors, walking, country pursuits and foraging food from hedgerows; these are my passions.

  • Jane Dale, Director

Hello, I am Jane Dale, Managing Director of MEAT.  I have 2 goals: to develop the company as a tribute to my late husband, John Croxford; and to be recognised as one of the best fresh food training companies in the UK.

I try to live by the company motto: professionalism, enthusiasm and pride in all aspects of the business.  My motto for relaxing is good company, good food, good wine and more wine.

During my time at MEAT I have to say that I have worked alongside some really good people who have become good friends.  I consider myself to be a fair employer and I like to empower my workforce.

I strongly believe in training for all, and that everyone deserves a chance to show their true potential.

  • Elaine Wright, General Manager

Hello, my name is Elaine.  I am MEAT’s General Manager, Financial Controller and Safeguarding Officer.  I have served a life sentence and more, yet I continue to enjoy it.

During my time with MEAT I have gained numerous different qualifications throughout the years.  I would say that my most rewarding qualification would have to be my Certificate in Teaching, my Assessor’s Qualification  and my Safeguarding and Prevent training.  I love family, I like to laugh, I enjoy music and a few holidays a year the sun is a must!

If you need any information, advice, guidance or support regarding training opportunities please do not hesitate to contact me.

  • Steven Rudelhoff, Assessor

I started working in my dad’s butcher shops at the age of 8, standing on a box and boning out legs of beef.  Not that you could do that these days.

I joined Dewhurst as a trainee butcher, as an improver.  I worked a number of locations in and around England. I was promoted to Manager and then “trouble shooter” to sort out the shops which were not taking enough money and/or with poor gross profit.  My next promotion was sales promotor for JH Dewhurst.

I moved to Cambridge Co-op, which became CRS initially as a manager, working my way up to fresh food controller in which I had responsibility over all fresh and frozen food departments of 87 stores.

In 1992 I moved to Wales, where I ran a butchers shop and then started my own business.  Yes, I do have all my butchery qualifications.

My interests are motorbikes.  I was the proud owner of a Honda CBR1000 and I am looking to get a new bike in the near future.  I am also interested in aeroplanes and I did my first flying lesson about one year ago and it is my dream to get my pilot’s licence.  Other interests are the Native American Indian culture.  I travel to America (North Carolina) once or twice a year to stay on a Cherokee retreat where I do healing and Reiki workshops.  I am also a Complementary Therapist, specialising in doing treatments with Autistic children/young adults.  I practice my therapies and do Reiki workshops all over the country, together with my wife.

I am a Graduate Member of the Institute of Meat.  Also, I have passed my Quality Assurance qualifications, I can do internal verifying and help with training assessors, which is enjoyable.

Do not forget, no matter how old you are it’s never too late to learn and get more qualifications.

  • Jenny Burrows, Administrator

Hello, I’m Jenny, Administrator at MEAT since 2011. My main job, which I enjoy the most, is to phone our learners on a regular basis to check they are all happy and safe in their workplace. Sometimes I do have to chase up workbooks. I am currently working towards a Diploma in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.

Out of work I enjoy holidays in the sun, gardening and good food.
